The other thread on this same topic was useless and is no longer accepting replies or requests for clarifcation. Why does it pop up, and how the **** are we supposed to know whether to trust a random unexplained popup?

If this pop up alert is not familiar to you, it would not be advisable to trust it as it may be a phishing tactic. If this appears in Safari on your iPhone, use the guidance from About pop-up ads and windows in Safari to help block those.
