I’m having the same issue but I do not have the option for toggling dynamic volume control. Using an iPad Air 5th gen on latest os. Have tried restarting iPad with no luck

Hi, divine179,

Thanks for asking about your iPad volume buttons. What you've described sounds like it may be related to a feature of iPads called dynamic volume buttons. This changes which button controls the volume up and volume down based on the orientation you are holding your iPad, and is an optional feature. You can adjust it following the steps below from Use the Home, side, and other buttons on your iPad - Apple Support:

Dynamic volume buttons on iPad mini (6th generation) and iPad Air (5th generation)

On iPad mini (6th generation) and iPad Air (5th generation) — and on any earlier iPad where you enable the option — the volume controls adjust as you rotate your iPad. So you increase volume with the button on the right or top, and you decrease volume with the button on the left or bottom:

Turn on dynamic volume buttons on all other iPad models

On other iPad models with iPadOS 15.4 and later, you have the option of allowing the volume controls to change based on how you hold your iPad:

1. Make sure that your iPad has iPadOS 15.4 or later.
2. Go to Settings > Sounds.
3. Turn on Fixed Position Volume Controls if you want the volume buttons to always have the same behavior. Turn it off if you want the volume buttons to change dynamically depending on the orientation of your iPad.

With languages that have writing that goes from right to left, you increase volume with the button on the left or top, and decrease volume with the button on the right or bottom. If your iPad has Rotation Lock on, the volume buttons will function based on the orientation that the iPad is locked to.

Don't hesitate to respond back if this doesn't address your issue.

Have a great weekend!
