No "Adjust keyboard brightness" after update

Hi,

I have MacBook Pro 2018 model and it doesn't have "Adjust keyboard brightness" after updating to macOS (i am not sure which version was it), I cannot adjust the backlight keyboard (it is completely off). I have tried pretty much everything (including resetting NVRAM, PRAM, SMC). Even dropped my MacBook at GineusBar, but when I brought my Macbook home, it stopped working.

here are some info,

  1. The keyboard backlights turns on only at login screen. Once I enter my password they turn off
  2. The option in the Touch Bar does nothing anymore
  3. the option/controls on the screen do nothing
  4. The option to "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" dissapeared from System preferences

Hi nishant_kp,

If you haven't already, you should check Turn your Mac keyboard’s backlighting on or off

"Manually adjust keyboard backlighting or turn it off

Do one of the following, depending on your Mac model:

  • On the keyboard, press the increase brightness key  or the decrease brightness key . To turn backlighting off, keep pressing the decrease brightness key.
  • In Control Center, click Keyboard Brightness, then drag the slider.
  • In the Touch Bar, expand the Control Strip, then tap the increase brightness button  or the decrease brightness button . To turn backlighting off, touch and hold the decrease brightness button.

Automatically adjust backlighting in low light conditions

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Keyboard , then click Keyboard.
  2. Select “Adjust keyboard brightness in low light.”

Automatically turn backlighting off after a period of inactivity

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Keyboard , then click Keyboard.
  2. Select “Turn keyboard backlight off after [time period] of inactivity,” then choose a time from the pop-up menu.

Tip: The light sensor is located at the top of your computer near the camera; make sure that area isn’t covered when you use your Mac in low light conditions."

Cheers!
