AirTags to prevent vehicle theft

If I put AirTags in my cars to track should the vehicles get stolen, how long before the AirTag starts emitting a sound?

Hello,

technically speaking, yes, you could actually use Apple‘s AirTag to track down the vehicle that got stolen.

Only issue: When the thief has an iPhone with the latest iOS updates installed, he is going to get a notification that an AirTag is near him. This can come after 12 - 24 hours or even immediately.

If you really want to make sure that you can track your car, hide the AirTag so that even if the thief gets the security notification on his iPhone, he won‘t be able to find it easily. (Under the floor carpeting or inside the dashboard)
