Apple Watch only showing approximate location

We recently bought our 9 year old son an Apple Watch SE with cellular data so we can locate him and communicate with him wherever he is. For some reason though, find my will only show his approximate location. All other devices on our network can be located exactly. I have gone through all of the settings that are obvious and turned on location settings. What am I missing?

Apple Watch resetting to New York and Cupertino All I just got a new iPhone 14 pro and synced it to my Apple Watch 6. Most apps work fine but the weather keeps resetting to New York and Cupertino instead of about 20 other cities on my iPhone. Both devices are on their latest os versions and I restarted both number of times. I also unpaired and paired it. I tried Apple support but they were clueless. I also deleted NY and Cupertino from my watch but they keep reappearing The weather app worked fine on my old iPhone 8. The cities show fine in my Apple Watch app on iPhone, just not on my Apple Watch. Anybody knows the fix? Thanks

Outdoor run race route Hey, I've got the latest update for the apple watch and was keen to compete against my previous runs. I have done the same 'route' including start & stop same spot. Same duration run. Exact same course many many times before. but when i select outdoor run - route - nothing appears. I've given it a few days to collect the data and hope they will appear but nothing. I have checked with other apple watch users who run less frequently and have completed less runs on their routes and theirs are appearing. So not sure what i'm doing wrong. Thanks.

Apple Watch Cellular vs. GPS I am currently looking to purchase the series 7 apple watch. This is going to be my first ever apple watch. I am just stuck on which one to get, I want the GPS one as I don't have the money to pay extra monthly for cellular. BUT I was wondering.. I always have my phone with me so would I still be able to make calls or send messages through the watch when my phone is with me? Like what are the differences between the 2 watches when my phone is always with me? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Hello Whitesnake9898, I take it your son does not have a iPhone paired with the Watch SE. In the watch settings > Privacy > Locations Services > Slide ON along with Share My Location Find My Network. Scroll down to Find Devices > check Ask or When I Share > Scroll down to Precise Location and slide ON.
