apple part #076-00236

Does anyone have access to this tool? The logic board is fried. I need to try to recover data from the SSD that is soldered to the logic board on a 2017 Macbook Pro.

FYI, that tool will not work with an M1 Mac so you will need an Intel Mac to be able to access the data on that 2016 - 2017 MBPro.

Since Apple includes Time Machine backup software for free with every macOS, Apple expects people to have their data backed up. Just be greatful there is even another potential option to access the data.

If the laptop powers on (does not need to boot, or have video on the screen), then you can try putting the laptop into Target Disk Mode to see if the SSD can be accessed from another Mac (Intel or M1).
