I can’t receive emails anymore. My computer (MacBook Pro/Monterey/Mail) says my IP account name or password in Earthlink doesn’t exist even though they do. What to do?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.3

When this happens it usually means that either your user ID or password in the email app somehow got corrupted and Earthlink's server is timing out while waiting for the correct information. You should go into the app's Preferences and carefully check the user information there, and correct it. In the alternative you can delete the Earthlink account and then set up a new one and that should work.

Thanks for your comments. Brought ideas to me. Spent time working with Mail preferences and Earthlink Web Mail address book, the source of most of Mail's messages. Emails fixed except for one source that uses 2 factor security. Can't get the access code from them. No problem for access codes from other companies. Maybe my corruption or company's corruption? Do you think giving them a different contact email address from my hotmail account that I seldom use anymore might be successful.
