iPhone/Airpods Mute Announce Notifications not Working

I have added the Announce Notifications button to my iPhone control panel. When I open the control panel and press it, I have the options to have Announce Notifications On, Muted for 1 hour, or Off for the day.

Problem:

I open the control panel, select Announce Notifications, and choose Mute for 1 hour. The app closes and takes me back to the control panel (so far that's normal). I go right back into the Announce Notifications app and can see that notifications will be muted for 1 hour until 2:20pm (for example). Minutes later, I get a text and Siri reads it to me even though announcements are supposed to be muted for 1 hour! I go back to the control panel and I see that Announce Notifications has reset to On. It's almost as though getting a new texts shuts off the Mute for 1 hour option I have selected.

I have rebooted my phone, and the problem persists. My iPhone is completely updated. What is going on here? Every time I get a text or calendar pop up it's reading it to me despite my repeatedly selecting Mute for 1 hour. I'm going to shatter this phone against the wall if it doesn't allow me to mute notifications for 1 hour. I need my airpods in for the work I'm doing but I can't shut off these $@&#$^$ notifications!!!!

Hello AZsport115,

You've tried some good steps already with restarting the device, and checking for updates.

Have you had a chance to try resetting the AirPods? If not, give that a try as well: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro

Do you have any profiles or Mobile Device Management (MDM) installed? You can check in Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management. If so, try temporarily removing these, and see if that's helped.

Cheers.

Thanks Eric, but no luck. I tried it and am still experiencing the problem.

When I go to my Control Center, I'm seeing the Announce Notifications app "on" which is indicated by being colored red and white.

I click the Announce Notifications app and select Mute for 1 Hour. It takes me back to the Control Center and the color of the Announce Notifications app changes to grey and white, indicating that notifications are off. This is correct.

However if I leave the Control Center and go to my home screen, then go right back to the Control Center, I can see the Announce Notifications app is back on and colored red and white. That is the error. My selection of Mute for 1 Hour is not "sticking".
