I have followed this to the letter and the iMac still did not work, and other advice?
I am having trouble connecting my 2012 iMac to my 2022 Macbook Pro. I followed the directions but its still not working. Anything else I may try?

Did you see these letters as well?
The other Mac that you're connecting it [your iMac] to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed.
