AirPods case only charging when open

my case seems to only charging when it’s open? i tried blowing in the charging port, getting a different cable and nothing and they are brand new:(

If the light is not on, it doesn’t have to be. It is still charging it doesn’t matter if the light goes off. I hope this works. Sorry for your AirPods.
