When I try to sync my iPhone with music on my iMac, I get a message that (the phone) is using Cloud Music Library - and to sync, I need to turn off the Cloud Music Library. However, I learned that doing this will delete all music from my phone. Answers?

It will delete everything related to an Apple Music subscription, but shouldn't delete your own music. I'm assuming you don't have a sub hence wanting to sync your iPhone with your Computer via cable, because if you had a sub your own music would automatically sync between the two devices.
You need to turn on Sync Library in Music Preferences on your Mac and your own personal library should sync to the phone. You cannot sync using a cable with a sub to Apple Music if iCloud syncing is on.
Your Mac isn't recognising your subscription.

Actually, I DO have a subscription (albeit a trial one) to Apple Music - or so the iMac keeps telling me. I will restart the computer, and see whether that has any effect.

Thank you - but no matter what I do, I cannot see the option for Sync Library in Music Preferences. That's why I think a reboot is necessary. Would you say so?
