iPhone music sync with iMac

When I try to sync my iPhone with music on my iMac, I get a message that (the phone) is using Cloud Music Library - and to sync, I need to turn off the Cloud Music Library. However, I learned that doing this will delete all music from my phone. Answers?

Your Mac isn't recognising your subscription.

"If you don't subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match, you won’t see an option to turn on Sync Library" – from Apple documentation

It will delete everything related to an Apple Music subscription, but shouldn't delete your own music. I'm assuming you don't have a sub hence wanting to sync your iPhone with your Computer via cable, because if you had a sub your own music would automatically sync between the two devices.
