too much sensitivity of Magic Trackpad 2

I purchased an M1 Mac mini that came with Monterey installed and I updated it to macOS 12.3. I kept the Magic Trackpad 2 that I had used with my 2017 iMac. I swear that the sensitivity of the trackpad has changed with the new computer. I have adjusted the Trackpad System Preferences so that the Click setting is Firm, but if I'm scrolling on a page by simply brushing my finger up and down on the trackpad, I end up clicking on pages instead. Same thing happens on any web page--the lightest of touch is interpreted as a click. My wife uses the same computer and commented on it before I could even ask the question. We find ourselves bouncing around all over web pages unnecessarily by inadvertent clicks. It's very annoying.

Has the multi-touch feature of the new Multi-touch Magic Trackpad interfered with the functionality of the previous Magic Trackpad 2 in macOS Monterey?
