The Contacts app is very slow on my Mac

Contacts is very slow, both when entering new contacts and when scrolling through the list of existing contacts (1295 in all).

It only happens to me on the Mac, while on the iPhone and iPad it is very fast.

Mac is otherwise very fast (MacBook Pro, 2.8Ghz i/ quad-core CPU, 16GB RAM), Mac OS Monterey 12.3)

can anyone help me ?
