Greetings Frustratedtimesten,
Apple Support Communities is a great place for help with the search engine in your web browser. To confirm, are you visiting a search engine website such as Google, Bing, or Yahoo and searching from the webpage, or are you using the Smart Search field in Safari to search? If you're using the Smart Search field in Safari, you'll want to confirm the search engine settings in Safari Preferences. This can be done by opening Safari and clicking Safari towards the top-left of the display next to the Apple logo, then click Preferences in the menu, in the window that appears click Search. From here, make sure the search engine you want to use is selected. You can also find great information about the Search preferences in Safari via the following link.
