Can't write MIDI in piano roll, no sound when managing to get notes into the midi roll, midi out is enabled

Hi everyone,

See title. I'm not able to click notes in by double tapping, only if I switch to pencil/create mode, or right-clicking and selecting 'create note' from the menu. No sound plays on the note I created, and I do have a preset attached to the track I'm trying to create within. My input and output are set to my MacBook's speakers and microphone. Clips of other premade instruments on separate tracks play with sound. Not sure what's not right or what setting I need to adjust.

Thank you, that solved the issue for more 'natural' instruments like piano, percussion, strings etc.

Now I'm having an issue with synths. No sound plays when I'm in the 'synth' 'roll' (so to speak, input looks like Novation Launchpad or Ableton Push). Here are additional screenshots. I'm not sure what settings to switch to play synthesizers, in 'Soundscape,' and 'experimental' libraries. Images attached.
