2017 MacBook Pro goes dark when unplugged even with plenty of battery remaining.

As the headline states, my machine randomly goes dark when unplugged, even with 60-90% battery power remaining. When I press the power button, it sometimes opens up on-task as if it had just gone to sleep, and it sometimes reboots entirely (from the apple icon) as if it had shut down completely.

Would love some insights from users who have had and fixed this issue.

Simply replying with "get it checked" is literally not helpful. Thanks.

I have the same problem, starting about a week ago. 2017 MacBook Pro 13", current OS 12.3.1. Battery condition normal, with 540 cycles under its belt. But the battery decline is rapid, going from 100% to 50% in about an hour with no peripherals attached, screen dimmed a bit, and Bluetooth off. Also, like you, my machine will go dark even though there is battery charge remaining (32% this morning, 18% yesterday). Despite the residual charge, when the power button is pushed, the "red battery" screen comes on, and I have to plug in to get the machine to wake up. When it does, it still shows the same percentage of charge as before going dark. Battery Optimization has always been on. I have reset SMC (and PRAM) with no effect. Hoping for the group (or Apple) to suggest other causes and solutions, or an update to OS with a fix.
