Issues with the microphone

Hi everyone,

I’m a new iPhone user and I’m not sure if the I have is caused by a malfunction of my specific phone or if it’s simply how iPhones work.

When I’m on a call and turn on the loudspeaker, people complain that they can’t hear me well. I soon realised that it’s because my pinky finger, used for supporting the phone so I don’t drop it, is covering the microphone on the bottom left side of the phone. This really surprised me as I didn’t have this issue in many years with other phones.

I’ve tested it with voice memo app and the same happened. Only the left speaker was used so when it’s covered the sound is very muffled.

I’ve used some diagnostics apps from AppStore to see if all microphones are actually working and they are.

Do you have the same issue on your phone? I’m trying to figure out if my device is faulty and if this can be fixed.

I’m using iPhone 13 Pro and it’s brand new (literally bought it yesterday).

Any advice would be much appreciated.
