finder scrolling - gets stuck with big lists.

this issue has been going on for years and ive no idea why it still happens.

its been happening over various machines, OS's etc.

seems to happen with long lists when scrolling fast.

just suddenly stops and then after a few seconds catches up.

Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. We saw the video you posted about Finder scrolling when lengthy lists are involved. We have some suggestions that might help.


First, we'd recommend making sure your Mac is on the last macOS update, 12.3.1:


Update macOS on Mac


Make sure you restart your Mac after the update is done, then test Finder scrolling. If the issue is still occurring note if you are trying to scroll after several other applications are also open, or just Finder.


We'd also recommend ruling out the underlying cause. Is this a list of specific items?

Does booting to safe mode produce the same results?

If you create a test user profile and test Finder, do you have the same issue?


How to use safe mode on your Mac


Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac


Feel free to reply back with any updates or additional details.
