Amazon Prime will not connect to the internet on AppleTV.

Amazon Prime will not connect to the internet on any of the 3 AppleTV devices we own. Yet, all other apps can connect. We’ve unplugged the device. Deleted and reloaded the app, and still have issues. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the note. It reminded me to post the *real* solution. The root problem is Prime is stupid with DNS and will lose the connection. The fix when you lose access again (when, not if...ask me how I know this...) is manually set DNS to 1.1.1.1.

Settings => Network and choose the "Connected>" network (Ethernet or WiFi).

Configure DNS => Click and choose Manual

Set the IP address to 001.001.001.001.

Done

Reboot the box and you're all set.

Wired and wireless are now working just fine for me.

Good day. So I was just going through all the same steps everyone was saying to try and the one about switching network types ( wired to wireless) triggered a thought.

So all I did was Manually change the DNS setting on the AppleTV. Typically this is set to use what ever your router is set to but I have a strong feeling there is an issue with Prime being resolved this way.

I personally set mine to Quad 1s and it worked.

settings app> network > WiFi name > change dns to manual and set the new address.

I experienced this same error on 2 Apple TV 4K's with all apps working with the exception of Prime.

By chance I changed the DNS settings on the router from 1.1.1.1 (Cloudfare) to Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and it instantly started working. Once the Prime app started working I reverted the router back to 1.1.1.1 and it still worked.

Hope this helps resolve the issue.

Roku is a whole new set of nightmares: been there done that.

I assume you're getting the black screen that cycles through several languages telling you to go to amazon.com/videohelp for some useless suggestions?

Don't know how technically proficient you are, so bear with me. On your Apple TV box are there three cables plugged in? Power, HDMI and ethernet (fat phone cable)? I removed the ethernet connection and then went to the Settings icon, clicked Network and configured the Connection to use WiFi (select your home wifi network and enter the password). Magic!

If you don't have the ethernet connection plugged in, I can't offer any suggestions.

Good luck!

I've done everything but stand on my head to fix this and am just going to delete Prime Video. My family won't be happy. The kids want us to use Roku, so the option may be just to start replacing AppleTV with those.

I'm not interested in getting into a battle between the hardware maker and the app maker. I chose Apple because the app store was supposed to provide some privacy control and quality control.
