Cannot access trusted phone number for verification

I need to change my trusted number for verification to sign in

i need to change my trusted number for verification to sign in into my apple iPhone my original has been lost , I get sent a 6 didgit verification but I can’t access it as I have a new phone, and I don’t want to create a new Apple ID , what can I do , very frustrating as I can’t use my new phone please help I don’t know what to do. Tried account recovery but it takes me back tow verification with the number I cannot use.

Hey yolandi176!

When you're prompted for the code sent to the trusted phone number, you should see an option indicating you no longer have access to that number. When you press that, you'll be prompted for additional details, including a new trusted number.

Since you no longer have access to your trusted phone number, learn about other ways to get a verification code. Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication

If you are still unable to obtain a code to login, you’ll need to begin the automated account recovery process. How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password

Thanks for the reply. The problem is we tried account recovery but somehow it takes us back to two-factor authentication which once again sends a code to the trusted phone mu er that we cannot access. It is a huge problem.

Hi Alma. It does not give more options. Maybe on my husband’s Mac…it is his Apple Id. Will give that a try.

Once we select Apple Id Recovery it takes us back to the page that says a verification code was sent to the trusted phone number and then no more options.
