scroll bars along right side

I recently got a 2019 iMac running Monterey and I notice whenever I am on any application where I want to scroll down or up there is no scroll bars that remain in place. I end up having to use the UP/DOWN arrows on my keyboard. What gives???

Go to Apple > System Preferences > General and check Always in the Show scroll bar: section.
