There were a number of complaints regarding the iPhone 11’s screen easily scratching that were posted in 2019. Was that resolved? Because my wife’s new phone (March2022) has scratches on the screen that can be felt with a fingernail in some instances. The iPhone we just traded in was Four years old and had no scratching it. What’s up?

The glass is stronger and less prone to cracking than older smartphones, but ANY glass can scratch when it comes into contact with something that can scratch it. The iPhone 11 isn't any more prone to this than any other smartphone. In your readings look for posts regarding newer smartphones and scratching and you will find such reports. Same thing with smart watches and anything else with a glass screen. I use Zagg glass screen protectors as I like their product and warranty better than Belkin and I pass off my hand-me-down phones to a woman with 5 boys ranging from 2 to 10. But Apple isn't having any issues selling phones so they are not going to include screen protectors as probably the majority of smartphone users don't use them nor want to pay for them.
Use a glass screen protector which can be bought for a couple of $ on Ebay or Walmart.
No screen is scratch proof, no phone is waterproof, no phone will play videos for 15 hours.
Hello ~ I use a case, screen protector (Zagg brand) glass back protector and camera protector because it is imperative to me to add the extra protection. That way I take the initiative that my iPhone is fully protected. I had all of these things on my iPhone as soon as it came out of the box so when I trade it in or such a great idea to pass it along to another it is in perfect shape.

No need to go the full Belkin. My two for £3 protector from Ebay has lasted a full year.
Tougher materials can be slightly softer.
I am extremely careful with my iphone but have a gash across my £59 leather case which annoyed me but I don't know what scratched it.
What I do know is I was my fault.
I am 71 and age is irrelevant .
The four year old Original SE was retired with zero scratches. Four days elapsed in my 73 year old wife’s possession before we discovered a significant scratch on the 11.
At 75 I failed to consider checking on Apple’s product performance. However, after finding all of the commentary from 2019, I would have recommended to Apple Sales/Marketing that they include a screen protector in the “What’s in the Box”. But that is only my 50 years in Sales/Marketing talking.
I know many people with the 11 without a screen protector and they have no scratches. You can also use your favorite search engine and find reports of scratching on every smartphone that has ever been released.
Apple has never made a screen protector so they don't have one to include with any model phone.
Ahh. But they offer the Belkin I purchased. Bet that a screen protector could have been arranged for.
Also, in my readings, I note the bullet points touting the strength of the screen on the subsequent models.
Perhaps not. How about a “Tips” insert on screen protectors and a discount on the price of a purchase of one from the Apple Store? Probability of less than 100% participation. Relatively little cost, but an expression of concern, advice and appreciation.
