This article details your options: Find your lost AirPods. Find My is the only way that you can track or locate a lost or missing device.

If your AirPods are out of range or need to charge, you might see their last known location, "No location found," or "Offline." You can't play a sound to find them, but you might be able to get directions to the location where they were last connected. If they do come back online, you get a notification on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac that you use with them.

If Find My was enabled with a device these were associated with, then you may be able to find them Fine My. Note that the location of AirPods is based off of the last time the device they were connected to was itself connected to the Internet. This is because AirPods are not assigned their own IP Address. So, use a site like Mapquest to backtrack to this location.
