Bad sound quality with bluetooth

I experience very poor sound quality on some albums on my iPhones; when I connect the phones to bluetooth speakers or headphones (e.g. JBL) or Apple CarPlay, the sound becomes crackly and distorted.

With Apple CarPlay it happens both via cable and without.

The strange thing is that the same albums listened to with the AirPods Pro, I don't experience any problems.

It's an annoyance that has dragged on through several iPhones and for years.

Any ideas on how to fix it?
