Connecting USB superdrive

Macbook pro, M1, 2020 will not recognize USB superdriver that is connected with a multi port adapter USB to C. Have message USB accessory needs power (no separate power to driver and mac is plugged in). System information when select disc burning states no disc burning device was found. and the USB states: Apple USB SuperDrive:

You need to connect it directly to your Mac via a simple passthrough adapter. Apple sells a good one.
