Finder icon view only displays a single column

In my finder, for certain folders, it will only display a single column of icons, regardless of icon size or grid spacing. Even if I extend the finder window all the way across the screen, there's a single column of icons.

Is there any way to get this to present in a grid? Some folders will show a grid of icons, but some folders don't.

Hello pondside001,

In one of the affected folders, such as the one in the screenshot, do you have 'Snap to Grid' enabled? You can check that out by right-clicking/secondary-clicking, or holding Command and clicking in a blank area in the folder. Then, choose Sort By, and see if Snap to Grid is enabled. If it is, try choosing "None" above it.

After that's done, head to the same menu and select Clean Up By, and select a desired option to see if this has helped.

Cheers.
