iPhone 11 Display Replacement - Non Apple display

My son cracked his iPhone 11 screen pretty badly and rather than paying the $200 to replace it with an Apple product like I should have done, we found an off-market display for ~$50 and we replaced it together as a father/son project. It worked pretty well initially but had the smallest crack again making the display go black rendering the phone useless.

This time I chose to replace the screen at Best Buy, as an authorized Apple repair location for an estimated $200. Best Buy, however, wouldn't replace it because they stated the cracked display has to be sent back to Apple and they can't send in a non-Apple product.

If I go to an Apple Store, will they replace my iPhone 11 screen for the ~$200 replacement fee?

I would guess you also had logic board and frame damage to the phone in addition to the display. The frame damage led to the next crack unless you son has a habit of dropping phones.

I think you will waste your time taking it to an Apple Store to be replaced, I believe they will refuse to do so and due to the changes you made they cannot accept it for trade-in. But you can always click on the Get Support link at the top right of this page and try. And a $50 3rd party display is pretty much going to be garbage.

Ha! True...I guess my question should have been, Will I waste my time traveling to the Apple Store to have them tell me they won't replace the non-Apple display? Or will they charge more than the $200 because I am not replacing a non-Apple display?

The secondary question that I am trying to get at is, should I just get a new phone if Apple is going to charge more than $200?
