Can I create a new Apple ID with an email address than I removed from an old Apple ID?

Years ago I created an apple id with my personal email address for an old iPhone that I gave to my son. All the information on this Apple ID is his. The contacts, photos backed up to iCloud, downloaded apps etc.

I would like to change the email address associated with that Apple ID to his personal email address and remove mine. I know how to do this.

However after changing the email address from mine to his I couldnt create a new Apple ID from the email address that was associated with the old Apple ID. I get this message: "This Email address is not available"

Is it possible to completely remove my email address from the old Apple ID to be able to use it to create a new Apple ID?

Doing an extensive search on this topic I see that there are answers to this exact same question from over 5 years ago. No one seems to know if its possible.

Apple hasn’t published any guidance for using an address again. Normally, if your e-mail address was associated with an ID in any way, then it can't be reused as an  Apple ID email address for approximately one year. I have also seen posts that stated Apple told them there was a 30 day waiting period before the address could be used again. You will need to get another e-mail address from somewhere like AOL or Yahoo to use as your Apple ID or you can try waiting 30 days to see if that works.

Thanks Eric for your response.

So its possible that I will be able to use it again sometime in the future.

I could use another gmail address for now and then try to switch it over after 30 days if this waiting period is complete.

Is it also possible that it may never be used again?

Is this something that tech support could resolve? Alternatively I could transfer all the iCloud, contact, app data over to a new Apple ID for my son but I read somewhere that its not so simple and requires downloading and uploading etc.
