Studio Display Stuck in Endless Loop While Updating to iOS 15.4

Last night I updated my mid-2015 MacBook Pro to Monterey 12.3.1 and my Studio Display started the update to. iOS 15.4 as well. Since then it has been stuck in an endless loop alternating between the support.apple.com/display/restore screen and the 3 dots with the message saying it is updating.

I have restarted my MacBook multiple times, and have unplugged the Studio Display from the power and also unplugged the cables, but it is still doing the same thing.

Has anyone else had this issue or knows how to resolve it?

Hi there, I had the same issue when upgrading an iMac late 2015 to 12.4 and the connected Studio Display went into a reboot loop when trying to install the 15.4 update. The studio display was connected with an original Thunderbolt 2 cable using a Thunderbolt 2-4 adapter, also genuine Apple.

The only solution I found, was to unplug the Studio Display (power + thunderbold) when the "support.apple.com/display/restore" message was displayed.

The connect the Studio Display to power and connect it to an MacBook 2020 with 12.4 installed with the original thunderbolt 4 cable that came with the studio display. Important: The MacBook must be connected to power and not run on battery and have a network connection! After displaying the "support.apple.com/display/restore" message a while, the Studio Display will start the update process again (three points) and this time it will run through (there is one blanc screen in the process somewhere with the three points reappearing after a while, be patient!).

Once the update is complete you can plug the Studio Display back to the Thunderbolt 2 cable / Thunderbolt 2-4 adapter with not problem.
