How do I turn off default music shuffling in iPhone Music app?

Why does my music app automatically shuffle when I connect to my car’s bluetooth, sometimes without using bluetooth or any other speaker device. This is irritating. I can’t find anything in settings about it one way or another, nor in my Toyota’s bluetooth settings.

I have an extremely diverse music collection, from Renaissance and Baroque music on period instruments to Santigold and Leon Bridges. Much of this music is extremely jarring when shuffled back to back, and I want to choose different things I like depending on my mood in the moment.

The auto shuffle assumes that a person’s music collection is a single monolithic expression of style and taste. This is insulting. How do I turn that off?
