x86 CPU CATERR detected

I was going to turn on my MacBook Pro 15,4, and suddenly the screen turned black, and the fans ran full blast, drawing dust from inside the computer, between the screen and the keyboard. Do I have to worry about this?

That is likely a low-level hardware error that is beyond the help available from your fellow end users here. You need to start a case with Apple. I've seen other posts about this error here and there was no resolution through the forums alone.

There is a hint of correlation in other threads between the error and running an external monitor on battery power. Are you doing that?
