How to screenshot on Mac

on monterey, is there a way to screenshot without having to go to the bottom-right of the screen, maximizing the window and pressing done? i don’t want to edit, i just want to be able to quickly take a screenshot and it automatically save without any further input.

Shift + Command + 5 - three keyboard combination will perform this Screen Shot function.


As previously mentioned, the image will appear in lower right of screen for a fraction of a moment ( on my computer ) and then appear fully rendered on my Desktop


An Aside to the question.


This the suer profile accurate MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.1


The current and fully updated version of Monterey as of March 31, 2022 is version 12.3.1

Press "command shift 5". choose "Options", disable "Show Floating Thumbnail", set "Save to" to the Desktop or "Other Location…", press "esc".


From then on, pressing "command shift 3" will take a Full Screen shot, pressing "command shift 4" will allow a screen selection
