How to STOP Automatic Empty Trash

Suddenly, my Mac Trash empties EVERY night. I had preferences set to default to empty automatically every 30 days, BUT it empties EVERY night.

There was a pdf I had trashed but I wanted to recapture and forward it to someone, so I looked in Trash the next morning and it was not there. I tested trashing a file and looked the next morning and it was GONE!

Here's the kicker...there are several empty FOLDERS in the Trash that NEVER disappear...they are ALWAYS in the Trash.

I changed preferences to NEVER empty the Trash without me doing it manually.

It STILL empties EVERY night....EXCEPT for those empty FOLDERS.

What gives?
