iMac-Unable to setup Touch ID on my keyboard.

My touch ID has stopped working. I've tried restarting, updating to the latest OS, turning my keyboard on and off. The Touch ID icon sometimes appears in Systems Preferences and sometimes is missing; sometimes the selections shown in Touch IS are gray/inactive, and sometimes when I start the process of adding a fingerprint print I get the 'unable to startup" message. Is this an issue with the iMac or with the keyboard?

After contacting Apple Support. I have done a simple step to enable it. Just plug and unplug the cable between your magic keyboard and screen USB. Then off the power of the keyboard and on it again after 5 seconds. My issue resolved. 😃
