how to “select all” in text message and gmail on iphone

i have an extremely hard time selecting all the text in a text message I’m writing and or a gmail I’m reading by dragging the highlight bar. Is there a “select all” button anywhere? It is not in the copy/paste menu that pops up when something is highlighted. This is becoming a deal breaker for owning Apple products.

Hello Forestwali,

For the Mail app, use these steps:

"How to delete multiple email messages

  1. Open Mail and go to your Inbox.
  2. Tap Edit in the upper-right corner, then individually select the emails that you want to delete, or tap Select All.
  3. Tap Trash or Archive. If you only see Archive, touch and hold Archive to see other options like Trash Selected Messages."

We've found this in Delete emails on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This is for the Mail app. If you're using a different app for Gmail, you might want to check with that developer.

For your messages, look this over:

"Forward older text messages

  1. Touch and hold the message bubble that you want to forward, then tap More.
  2. Select any other text messages that you want to forward.
  3. Tap Forward  and enter a recipient.
  4. Tap Send ."

This is included in How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac. You'd have to select each message individually to forward it. If this is a feature that you'd like to see, you can leave Product Feedback.

We hope this helped out!

Take care.
