MacBook pro backlight issue

Hi

My 2017 MacBook Pro has this issue same as described here - 13-inch MacBook Pro Display Backlight Service Program - Apple Support. When I explained it to the technical support over the call, she agreed even though my MacBook Pro was not the 2016 one but they will make the exception to cover it and set up my appointment for local repair. Surprise - when I land at the Apple Store, it turns our the person did not capture all the detail and the Store does not take responsibility of what the tech support agent committed to. What is the path for escalation to have Apple address a problem which is 100% identical to a problem which has been approved for warranty repair?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

15" or the 2017 has not been included in a Service program. No.

Service Programs are triggered by the percentage of all MBP of this spec vs the number of failures documented.

We are not privy to this %, or have any more insight.

Typically in the past if Apple does release a Service Program, they have offered a refund for out of pocket expense parts & labor for the exact issue covered.

Thank you for prompt response. I request the following - as a customer of Mac product I don’t see the difference between the 2 scenarios (2016 and 2017) so if an older model (2016) has been approved for extended warranty coverage why would a newer model not be covered?
Thank you for thinking from a customer’s viewpoint.

I tried to answer this above —

On a 7 day schedule Apple ships over 57,000 Macs per day, most of them are MacBook/MacBook Pro models...
