Data seems to be missing from a migration to new Mac Mini

I transferred data from my 2016 MacbookPro to the new Mac Minin, using migration assistant. It seems to have made a backup of a backup. Is there any way to make sure I save the latest version of the backup. Also, I can’t see any of this in the Finder without going in 3 to 4 clicks. And digging didd we n to users and then the files??
