Apple TV remote zoom feature has stopped working with Screen Mirroring

Hi Friends. I noticed this for the first time within the past 30 minutes. I use airplay/screen mirroring from my Macbook Pro (2019) to my Apple TV model A1625 (64 GB), tvOS version 15.4.1. When not screen mirroring, I can triple click the remote and the zoom toggles in and out on the Apple TV normally (whatever I'm watching on the screen); but tonight, when I mirrored my display from my Macbook to the Apple TV, the triple click zoom does not engage. I've restarted everything, and my remote is charged 96%. I've been doing this for the past couple years. The only thing that has changed is a recent update to Monterey OS 12.3.1 last week, but I'm sure it functioned normally after that (I think). Any clues?

For help using the Zoom gesture with your Siri Remote, double check that you are following the guidance found here:

Use Zoom to magnify the image on Apple TV

If those gestures are not working as expected, the next step will be to Contact Apple Support directly for further assistance.

Unfortunately, an apostrophe character was included at the end of the link. It works well without that erroneous character.

Hi, Dustin. Thanks for the reply. The link you posted above is a dead link ("The page you a looking for cannot be found"). In any event, the remote works perfectly until I start screen mirroring from the laptop to my TV, a feature I have used for a couple years. That is a new behavior.

I have found a "clunky" work-around as I can use the triple-tap on the Macbook trackpad to zoom on the laptop screen, which is not as elegant (simple) as using the remote to zoom in and scan over documents. I do not want to zoom in directly on the laptop because 1) I lose the remaining viewing areas on documents that I used to be able to read on the laptop screen while pinpointing specific areas to zoom in on the TV ONLY, and 2) It requires me to be near the laptop as opposed to standing anywhere in the room simply using the remote to zoom in on TV areas that I want to show others. Basically, the REMOTE zoom is disabled after I start screen mirroring.

I agree with you that I should call Apple support to see if something changed with the new upgrade. Cheers!

As a follow up to my post above, I just noticed that the Siri remote zoom no longer works during slideshow, with the Flickr app, for example. . It's only working when the menu of the images are displayed individually. Something obviously broke after the upgrade to Monterey 12.3.1.
