My sim card works on iPhone 6 but not work with voice on iPhone XS since it does not allow you choose VOLTE after the sim is inserted. Is there a way around that?

2G, 3G, 4G, LTE, VoLTE, 5G all are Carrier Specific features. Contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider), the agency that issued the SIM / eSIM to you.

See the Pic below and explanation thereof

If your carrier supports VoLTE

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options and tap Enable LTE or Settings > Mobile Data and tap Enable LTE. If your carrier supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE), you'll see these options:

  • Off: Turns off LTE
  • Voice & Data: Allows voice calls and cellular-data use over LTE
  • Data Only: Allows cellular-data use, but not voice calls over LTE

Carriers are switching to VoLTE Only on their networks. As there are no other options than VoLTE there is no need for switches to select a network except on iPhones that support 5G. On those you have a choice of LTE, 5G, or let the phone select the best.

But if your phone has no switches then it is already set to LTE and VoLTE automatically. If you can’t make voice calls there is a different problem; contact your carrier.
