My iMac won't recognize an android phone using only a cable. If you need to get files from the phone, you can use "Android File Transfer" https://www.android.com/filetransfer/ You can't preview the files, but you can copy them to your computer. I hope this helps.

-------

Transfer Through iCloud.com/photos:

On your Samsung phone, open a browser, and go to iCloud.com/photos. Then, upload the photos there. Next, access them in the Photos app on your Mac. You'd do the following on your Mac:

Enable Photos on Mac:

  1. Go to: System Preferences
  2. Click: Apple ID (on top-right)
  3. Select: Photos (by giving it a check mark)
