Song information resetting in Apple Music Library

I keep updating song information in my Apple Music Library, mainly genre and year so that I can sort into playlists. But every time I log back in to my music app on my MacBook the information has reverted back. Surely there must be a way of updating years and genres without them changing? It's driving me insane!
