Monterey purple wallpaper replaces my desktop background every time I reboot

Hello,

I have 5 virtual desktops, two with Apple live background (Monterey and Catalina), one with Mavericks waves and two with my own photos.

Every time my laptop reboots (which is quite too often as Apple releases many bugfixes lately), two live wallpapers are reset to Monterey default purple watercolor walley. Only static wallpapers remain.

Later, as I swipe between desktops looking for "whate else was damaged since yesterday" I notice, that purple walley wallpapers suddenly change to single color, light blue WinXP style background.

Whan I open Preferences/set the live wallpaper, I always have to download it again, because there is a cloud icon near it. When I do it, the same live wallpaper is set to all five virtual desktops! Why?

Should I locate the desktop files and make them read only, so they will survive reboot cleanup?

I have a lot of sarcastic comments now, but I leave it for Twitter. Feedback sent to Apple.

Hello david.krikava,

From what you're saying it seems that the picture hasn't been downloaded so we suggest doublechecking the settings as a first step:Customize the desktop picture on your Mac. We'd suggest following it like a checklist and test out whether a personal photo or a live photo downloaded from Apple will help out. We did want to call this section out from the guide:

"Dynamic and Light and Dark desktop pictures automatically change throughout the course of the day based on your current location. If Location Services is turned off in Privacy preferences, the picture changes based on the time zone specified in Date & Time preferences."

If this is still not working at it should, the best option is to Contact Apple Support. We realize you've already sent feedback, and if you're already working with Apple Support via Twitter, that will work too. This way they can narrow down what might be the cause and resolve it with you.

Kind regards.
