Final Draft not saving to designated folder on Mac

I was successfully saving scripts from Final Draft to a specific folder on my desktop for the last year. Now when I save to that folder, the new version does not save, whether it is in a .fdx file or a new PDF. It says it is saving, and even says it will save over the current version, but the files in the folder are not updated. I have tried saving to a brand new folder on my desktop, and it says it is saving, but the folder remains empty.

The only place I can find the saved docs is in "recents" in Finder.

Why can't I save to the designated folder on my desktop and what is the solution?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

Do you have Documents & Desktop in iCloud? You may have turned that on unwittingly when updating.

Click iCloud Drive in a Finder window Sidebar and see if there a Desktop there and if it contains the folders and documents you are looking for.

Thank you for the reply. I tried making a new Pages doc and saving to that same folder, and a new folder, and once again the doc does not show up in those folders, but I can see it saved in Recents. So the issue goes beyond Final Draft.

The only recent change I can think of was that two weeks ago my Notes were not synching on my iPhone and MacBook Air, and I signed in and out of my iCloud on my computer and had to wait about 12 hours for my MacBook Air to upload all my files. Maybe this saving issue started around then, I am not sure, just noticing it now.

Looking forward to a response.
