I have added one one external monitor without any problems. But I cannot get a second to work. Am I limited to one or just not doing the right thing or using the right hardware? Thanks in advance.

The 24” M1 iMac only supports one external display.

The following text implies an adapter is available to add a VGA monitor, does it not?

It clearly say’s
“One external display”
the second support article also say’s
“24-inch iMac: Connect one external display (up to 6K), a projector, or an HDTV to one of the two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports on the 24-inch iMac”
If you doughy me or the support articles, give Official Apple Support a call.
