Hotmail & New custom domain feature
Why won’t iCloud let me use my Hotmail for the new iCloud custom domain feature. My actual mail app on iPhone is Hotmail instead of Apple. Makes no sense
iPhone 12, iOS 15

Hi,
What are you trying to do exactly with iCloud+ Custom Domain?
Since you have a @hotmail.com email address, you would need to simply connect that email account to your Mail app in order to access your email. See Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for more information.
A @hotmail.com email address would not be eligible to use with iCloud+ Custom Domain.
Your domain is going to be where the email address originated, or the host, of the email.
Examples of email domains:
Domains are owned by companies and businesses, educational institutions, government agencies, employers, etc.
Consumers also have the option to purchase and create their own domain if they wish.
You would link your existing domain to iCloud, whether it be a student email, email account created by your employer, or your own email domain you have already previously set up.

You can only use the iCloud (Apple ID) email address because it is part of iCloud+
If you want to use the Hotmail Address for creating custom domains then you need to ask Microsoft.
