Reverting to more recent versions of numbers document saved on cloud

I recently had to reboot my whole system from a backup from December 2021. I didn't think this would be a problem as most of my work is saved in the cloud. But now when I try to open documents saved in the cloud, it reverts to a December 2021 version. If I go to File --> revert to in Numbers then none of the more recent versions are there. If I log onto the cloud through icloud.com I can see that there are more recent versions there from April 2022. But it will not let me open them. Please please please can anyone help!

Are you trying to open them from Numbers for iCloud, i.e. from your browser?


If that's not working the you might try posting here:


iWork for iCloud - Apple Community


Or contact Apple Support.


(The fact that you can't access documents in iCloud Drive from Numbers for Mac might be a different issue.)

Are you trying to open them from Numbers for iCloud, i.e. from your browser?

Yes exactly. From Numbers on the imac the newer versions aren’t showing up at all. I tried on my ipad but as I tried to open it the April version was replaced by the December one. From iCloud.com I can see that they are there but if I try to open them it gives a failure message (cannot open at this time). There is hours and hours of work in those later versions and I’d be immensely grateful to get them back.

In the end I had to open a new Skype account (my previous one had also locked me out as I didn't have access to my old phone number!) and get a UK number so that Apple Support UK could call me - roundabout but it did work in the end. They still haven't fixed the problem but at least I now have the contact of a human being. Thanks for your help and thinking this through with me!
