Chess App has no menus or settings that I can see

With the Chess game open, go to the Menu bar and select Chess > Preferences.

If the Chess game is in Full Screen Mode???

Click the green button or push your mouse pointer up to the top of the screen.

why isnt chess working macos Ive been using chess for long time and just recently it’s stopped working all it does when I open the application is immediately go to full screen, wait approx 3 seconds while showing the rainbow wheel then quitting and giving me a notification that it has unexpectedly crashed/quit. I tried shutting down and restarting but it hasn’t worked
