How are we expected to work with only 2 ports? If one goes to power and one goes to peripherals, how do I connect an item which requires a direct connection?

I guess the simple answer is that you buy a computer that meets your needs. If you require different ports why would you buy a computer that does not meet your requirements?

Have you checked out docking stations, port adapters, alternative wireless devices?
