Zoom level constantly changes while scrolling through photos in Photos 7.0

This is an annoying bug in Photos 7.0 with Monterey. In prior versions of the Photos app, when you press the spacebar (or double click) to zoom a photo to fill the Photos window, also known as the 'Fit' zoom level, you could scroll through your album using the arrow keys and the photos would remain at the 'Fit' zoom level to fill the photos window. This would be the expected behavior. Now with Photos 7.0, scrolling through photos no longer retain the 'Fit' zoom level. High resolution photos will be reduced to 58% in the middle of the window. As you continue to scroll, the behavior is inconsistent as some photos will go back to 'Fit' zoom level and others drop back down to 58% in the middle of the window. Clicking the minus sign on the zoom slider returns to Fit level, but as you continue to scroll through your album, the inconsistent behavior continues as photos jump between 58% and Fit zoom level. Tapping the spacebar to return to grid view and tapping again goes back to Fit zoom level, but the inconsistent behavior continues as you scroll. None of the images are low resolution either.

Anyone figure out a solution so scrolling through photos in an album stays at the 'Fit' zoom level?

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
