Our dog has an AirTag on her collar that is connected to my wife's phone. My wife is out of town for a couple of days and now the AirTag is chirping intermittently (waking me up at night and confusing the dog). Is there a way to disable this feature? Or alternatively connect the AirTag to both of our phones to avoid this?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. You can have your wife remove the AirTag from her iPhone and you can set it up on yours until she returns. Read more here: If an item or device is connected to another Apple ID.

Thank you for the reply. This doesn’t seem like a reasonable fix. This means that every time either one of us travels or is away for more than 8 hours (every day for work) the AirTag is going to chirp. This seems like a significant design shortcoming. Very disappointed.
Unfortunately, the chirp feature aids criminals, too. I was hoping to attach AirTags to items that might be stolen. But if they chirp, they give themselves away and allow the thief to disable them. So, they are useless for anti-theft applications.

I also have this issue however my air tag wallet chirps periodically for no reason even when I have my wallet and my phone on me?
Im guessing this is Apple’s way to combat misuse of AirTags by criminals tracking other people by hiding AirTags on the person, luggage, vehicle, etc.
sorry, I don’t know how to make it stop. It’s happening to me too after a friend left their key ring in my car.
That’s indeed odd behavior.
Two questions:
1) Are the phone and the tag on the same AppleID? (i.e. Can you “see” the tag w/ the phone using FindMy?)
2) Is your phone’s BlueTooth “on” ?
Yes and yes .. Like I say it only happens intermittently .. weird ..
